Music for Wellness

Greetings from the Music program at Holy Child Academy in Drexel Hill. I have been fortunate to be the Music Director at HCA for the past three years. Prior to that I have had an extensive career in music and have spent most of my life, learning, discovering, collaborating, perfecting and teaching music to people of all cultures and ages. 

I have been making music since the young age of 4 and it has significantly impacted who I am. It directs how I spend my life every day, not just professionally, but personally as well.  If I have learned anything in life, it is that my life would be diminished significantly without the experiences I have participated in, so much so, that I cannot imagine a single day in my life without music.

Some of these positions and areas of interest include composing, conducting, performing as a violinist, pianist, organist, church musician, orchestral musician in classical orchestras and playing in numerous musicals in music theater. Needless to say, I have been exposed to every genre and style imaginable. What a blessing!

Music entertains, challenges us, heals, inspires, energizes, invigorates. In some cases, it makes you want to get up and move your feet even if you aren't a good dancer.  In other cases, it may inspire you to study an instrument you have always wanted to learn. I encourage you to take the time each and every day to listen to music. 

In preparing the following list of resources, I found music to be especially cathartic. Music touches us in places that words alone often cannot express. I have found that  adding a soundtrack to life can make the days easier, help children learn better, support their emotional development, and ultimately just make everything a lot more fun!
